Cancelled
Aug 2, 03:05 PM
Today's events were cancelled late last night because we didn't confirm the day with Yoshizawa-sensei. Instead, we slept in late and relaxed. That means some karaoke with Tomo for an hour and a half (I even did a Japanese song with her!) and then sento in the late afternoon. Yeah. We really didn't do anything.
Isaiah and Jon had dinner at the Takahashi's, but Mike and I were invited to the Honda's for dinner. But, we left a little late and took too long figuring out who would take the bikes back to Mrs. Omura's since I was going by train to Tama City for dinner.
Mike and I ended up leaving 20 minutes before we were supposed to be at Tama Center, from which Honda-sensei would drive us the rest of the way to his house. But, not only were we late, we didn't have any phone numbers to call him or anyone else to notify them of our predicament. Instead, we pushed it as fast as we could and made it there an hour late after an hour and a half trip. We didn't even flinch when it came to directions, they're burned into our memories from last year. We tried to take Odakyu line since it's faster and runs parallel to Keio, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Mike power walked the whole way from Nagayama station to their house, while I would take a picture, run past, then take another picture. I was a shutter bug today, because it's one place I have no pictures of due to a broken camera two years ago. Here's a picture of one of my favorite places in Japan.
Once we arrived, apologized profusely, and called the necessary people, we finally sat down to dinner at 7 PM. Chizuko made a great Italian dinner. But what was awesome was the conversation. In year's past, we'd talk for hours after dinner, and that's just what we did again. Honda-sensei had a several questions for us, and we talked about everything from this year to the future to the gifts of the Spirit. And, of course, the unity of the body of Christ came up. The funny part is, he preached on it yesterday from 1 Corinthians 12:13. It was so awesome.
But all good things must come to an end. Tomorrow's plans with the Takahashis are going to make for an early morning and a long day, so we needed to get home a little earlier than we would have liked. Thankfully, they're going to be there on Thursday to see us off.
