<em>Toriyama</em>

Aug 1, 04:57 PM

(Isaiah stares down dinner. I think he won.) For dinner, the Hosokawas took us to Toriyama, which is a old restaurant that Mrs. Hosokawa remembers going to as a little kid. It's pretty famous up in the lake area near Seibu Dome. Instead of a main dining area, there are small hut like houses that you reserve for your meal. It's up in the forest, so there's tons of cicadas (also affectionately known as "death moths" by Mike and I) making noise and flying around out side of your room. We ordered four plates of things to cook in our fire pit. Mr. Bear ate non-stop. After those four plates, they ordered these clams which are good with shuyo (Soy sauce). Then came the noodles. Then about two hours later the rice. Then dessert. It just kept coming and they kept eating: for two and a half hours! I've never eaten so much. When we got home I went over to Chris' house to pick up a gift that he needed to give Yoshizawa-sensei. We were going to go to visit him in Tokyo, but when Chris walked back to Mrs. Omura's with me, Isaiah told me tomorrow's plans are cancelled. We confirmed the event far too late, meaning the night before. So, because of miscommunication, we're just going to relax and do some souvenir shopping tomorrow. It's frustrating, because Jon and Isaiah were really looking forward to spending time with Yoshizawa-sensei, but God's got other plans for us tomorrow. However, Chris waited around for a while and talked with us before going home. Midori wasn't feeling well all day and boy number five is going to be here soon, so Chris is needed at home.
