One of the stranger things about this trip has been that my first few hours have been on a military base. I know I’m in Japan, but I haven’t really experienced it yet save for stopping at a convenience store on the drive to Camp Zama.
I’ve spoken naught but English so far. Last week’s wedding tour was better practice for my Japanese. Shige did challenge me quite a bit, and put up with my limited vocabulary very well.
Today marks the beginning of the Asian Access portion of the trip. This morning, I’ve got to get from Soubudai-mae Station just off post to Haneda Airport. Unfortunately, that requires three transfers, and well, I’m quite rusty! We looked over the maps last night and double checked schedules, but my confidence is rather low.
So, Lord willing, I make it to Haneda in time, find Raye, and get on that plane to Sapporo. Tanoshii deshou ne!
