Sapporo introduction

Jul 5, 10:55 AM

Raye and I landed safely, very safely, at Chitose airport, where security is high for the G8 summit. How I missed that, I don’t know, but Raye on the other hand was very aware that Arashi‘s last concert is in Sapporo Dome tomorrow night. It turns out that the Fujihara‘s daughters are attending the concert, and the Kojima‘s eldest daughter works at the dome. It sounds like I’ll be going to the barbecue alone tomorrow night, with a large crowd of church people who want to meet us.

The Fujihara family are all Christians, where only Mrs. Kojima is. Interestingly enough, her husband, Shige isn’t. Every Shige I know is not a believer. But he is quite the ukulele player. He even published a single with a song he wrote. Needless to say, after perusing and discussing the calendar I gave them, we spent time in the music room playing guitar and singing. He knows and willing sings a few Christian songs. Keep him in your prayers, along with their daughters.

The church planting network here is quite substantial, and we’ll meet three or four of the church fellowships while we’re here, in just a few short days.

Also, Tachikawa Ekime is well known, even here. Eight floors up from Wakako and Tim (the missionary couple) is a lady who came from Tachikawa. She remembers the summer worker program, but didn’t know me. Apparently she had no interest in the English program. Makes even Japan look smaller, doesn’t it?

Alright, it’s hot, I’m tired and I have to iron everything I’ll wear to church tomorrow, so off to bed with me. Oyasuminasai!
