Keeping things a little slower today as things wind down, we had late morning home church visits. Raye was at Reiko’s home church, which was predominantly older women, and I was at Peter’s, which was predominantly children. Each had their own feel, catering to the needs of the tiny congregation.
The afternoon was spent meeting with the pastors and leaders from all the groups at Fuji-sensei‘s home. It was a lengthy meeting, but I had the chance to ask about ministry opportunities to my own peers, the twenty something salarymen. Apparently, there is a very slow progression which typically originates in business English classes. It sounds like a slow harvest, but the promise remains the same.
“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when the plowman shall overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed;”
So who will join with me to till the soil of men’s hearts? The harvest is indeed plentiful in Japan, for so few have as of yet come to faith.
Oh, and Mike, I treated the Thomsons to dinner, as you requested. At least they’d willingly accept as Americans. I wouldn’t have to fight over a bill!
