2008: Year In Review

Jan 1, 10:33 AM

It’s been a month since any content has made its way up here, no surprise. Even longer since it was even something I wrote.

So, in the spirit of, well, using this website, and reviewing the year, because the meme isn’t dead, even though just about every other blog is doing it, here is my year in review!

January

This month marked one year since I paid off my college loans and started looking seriously into “tithing my 20s” in Japan.

February

This lonely month was the worst travel experience of my life. On one of the longer Mexico trips of all time, I was snowed in on my commute back to San Diego.

March

Unremarkable.

April

Unmemorable.

May

Forgettable, apparently.

June

I was introduced to C- just days before my trip to Japan. Big Sur was also on fire.

July

My company was shut down. The best two weeks overseas happened this month while I toured Japan with Asian Access. And then I quit my job.

August

I met C- for the first time and marked a quarter century of living. Did I mention I was jobless and helping out at church frequently?

September

I flew up to Seattle on a whim, joined my college friend’s church’s youth retreat in Aberdeen. Then I interviewed for two days for a job that didn’t officially exist. Then it was offered to me ten days later and I took it.

October

I moved to Seattle, found a roommate, and then a good church. I went on our church retreat and hung out with the Japanese ministry group.

November

C- decided she’d come up to Seattle to visit family and we hung out with my church friends for half a day. I was starting to get really smitten.

Then I flew home for Thanksgiving and she picked me up from the airport. That day went so well, we went to the wharf the day after Thanksgiving.

Then I asked her if we were going steady. She said, “Sure.”

December

Snowpocolypse. Seattle gets buried under a foot of snow and no one can get to work. Then C- shows up unannounced for New Year’s. Best. Day. Ever. The End

The Beginning

Where do we go from here? Well, I really like the “we” idea; I can’t say it can be topped. I have an interview with A2 next Friday, and C- is also applying. Next Saturday, I’ll be praying for the meal at the monthly JxJ meeting. It’s my first official responsibility.

I wish I could tell you all what’s next, but quite simply, life is such a blur, I don’t know exactly what I’m doing. Japan, C-, Seattle. There’s so much to be done!
