Joy English Club: Day Three

Jul 29, 02:57 PM

Having hit our stride, today was a bit easier.

Isaiah and I met up at Tachikawa-minami station on accident. We were two train cars apart on our way into town on the Monorail. So we grabbed some Elevensies at 8:30am to fill out our breakfast time. After were finished that off, evenone else arrived safely from their new homestays, except Michelle. She got a little lost coming in by train, so Isaiah went to pick her up. The station is much larger than it was five years ago, and you never quite know which mall you’ll come out of when coming up from the trian platforms. Meanwhile, I had to quickly write out the second verse to our Bible time song, “Read Your Bible, Pray Every Day”.

It appears that the summer swim classes that we compete with are only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, because today we were back to our Monday sized group. The “Cicada” boy (who chirps just like one, the whole time) was back and we had a few older kids. Michelle had a one-on-one lesson with the eldest, and Carolyn and Isaiah had about ten kids each in the threes and fours class.

Once craft time rolled around, I got rather tired. I think last night’s conversation just wore me out. So there was glitter and streamers and funky colored fish everywhere as we illustrated Jesus’ miracle of supplying fish on the “other side of the boat” for his disciples.

The afternoon didn’t have much in the way of plans. We had our usual meeting and ran around town to a few stores that we wanted to visit. After that, the girls both had to go home early, and Mike left at six for swimming with Yuki and his wife. So it was just Isaiah and I attented the prayer meeting.

From the sounds of the requests, there’s a lot of babies on the way (and by a lot, I mean two, which is a lot for a Japanese church). Additionally, there’s several new contacts for interested non-Christians, and a baptism or two. HiBi-a camp was cancelled this year, for the first time in it’s fifty year history, due to attendee’s concerns about swine flu. They apparently had an outbreak at the last camp. As a result, the resident missionary’s son, Bradley, wasn’t going to be a counselor this year and was home with his family in the Tachikawa area.

Other than that, there wasn’t much left to do but head home and get some sleep! It’s been hot and humid, and this weekend there’s supposed to be thunderstorms.
